Some NFC Fridge Magnets I Made

Posted on Edited on In Disqus:
In the first half of this year I spent weekends learning to make cocktails, and finally held my first guest bartending session before the National Day holiday. The gifts I planned for friends were NFC-enabled fridge magnets.

Background

The idea came from the little card-stock cards a friend made around the same time — hers were exquisitely crafted. But she told me it was a pity they lacked the NFC-jump-to-music feature. So I wanted to spend time exploring it; now I can successfully write them and normally wake up NetEase Cloud Music and bilibili.

AI image generation really provides many possibilities for someone like me who can’t draw, hahaha.

Image Generation

Preparing Prompts

I used ChatGPT to prepare the prompts first:

Generating Materials

Initializing the image

I’d built my own Stable Diffusion when playing around before, so I just tried it with my own — anyway I think it’s enough.

Making the NFC sticker

I can’t use PS myself, so simple image editing relies on this website:

Simply adding text and compositing images works really well:

Sending to the Shop

After the materials are ready, just send them to the shop — but you should have a mental picture of roughly how it will look. Here’s my experience:

  1. The image is very bright, but the finished product from the shop has color differences
  2. The edges must have some margin, to avoid edge content not being fully reflected in the image

Look at this one — the brightness is completely different, isn’t it:

NFC Writing

I shared this part earlier on Xiaohongshu; see here for details.
